Editorial
This short editorial
introduces the second issue of NJCIE. While this issue will include fewer
articles than our first issue, we hope that our readers will continue to show
their interest in this new journal as we grow. This issue will include articles
with a focus on higher education from a more global perspective, but which also
include a specific Nordic comparative focus. This global
focus can be seen in relation to the thinking by Marginson
and Rhoades (2002) around their analytical approach they term glonacal agency heuristic (p. 283). For Marginson and Rhoades (2002) this involves “three intersecting planes of
existence, emphasizing the simultaneous significance of global, national, and
local dimensions and forces” (p. 282). These intersecting dimensions and forces
are taken up in the papers in this issue in various ways.
In closing, we would like to inform
our readers of our upcoming special issue (volume 2, issue 1), which focuses on
perceptions and practices of diversity in education. In this issue, our guest
editor Tony Burner brings together a selection of papers that extend our
thinking around diversity in education in its broadest sense to include a focus
on kindergartens, schools and adult education, among children, pupils,
students, teachers and teacher educators.
