Download yearly statistics reports for your journal hosted by OsloMet University Library

Generating statistics reports in OJS

OJS allows to generate custom statistics reports (Public Knowledge Project online documentation).

The report generator can be found in Statistics > Reports in the journal's admin interface.

When creating and downloading a custom statistics report, you are prompted to download it in the form of a CSV file which can be opened in a spreadsheet application such as Microsoft 365 Excel or Libre Office Calc. In the spreadsheet there is a URL which is used to access the report and download it again later. This URL can also be modified to generate reports with similar settings.

This page let's you select year and journal and generates custom report URLs so you won't have to configure the settings of the report generator in our OJS instance.

You need to be signed in to your OJS account and have appropriate rights in the chosen journal for the report URL to work.

Generate report URLs and view the data

  1. When a Journal is selected, or when changing year (if a journal is selected), a new download link will immediately be generated.
  2. Click the link to download the yearly statistics for a journal for that year
  3. If you are presented with a login page, you will have to the OJS platform (and you need to use an account with journal manager rights to be able to download the stats file).
  4. When you are logged in, you should get a download window. The script on this page copies a more sensible filename to the clipboard, so you can paste that into the filename if you wish as you save it to disk using CTRL+V/CMD+V on the filename-part before the .csv extension.
  5. Open the CSV file using a spreadsheet application such as Microsoft 365 or Libre Office Writer
  6. See the table below on how to interpret the numbers, keep in mind which year you selected when you generated the report link.

Generate custom report urls for yearly abstract views and fulltext downloads

Note that you will only get data for a full year after the year is complete to meaningfully compare it to other years.

Select a year and journal to get a report download link

When selecting journal and year, a list of statistics reports will be populated:
