About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Nordic Journal of Art & Research is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open-access journal aimed at disseminating knowledge and experience from research and development projects based on artistic practice and reflection, art education, art theory, cultural theory, and related areas. The journal is related to the disciplines and practices of the arts, such as music, visual arts, dance, drama and theatre. The journal also welcomes interdisciplinary contributions that challenge and cross traditional boundaries. Contexts can range from education to various other institutional and social framings of art.

Nordic Journal of Art & Research welcomes contributions from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives. The journal publishes peer reviewed  professional contributions of high quality for the Nordic research community.

The journal makes use of the varied opportuities online publication offers by opening for both traditional text-based articles and contributions that include audio, images, and video material. In cooperation with OsloMet - Oslo Metropolitan University, we are developing a platform for publication that should provide the best possibilities for the presentation of varied multi-media items.

Contributions in Scandinavian languages and English will be accepted.

 

Peer Review Process

Nordic Journal of Art & Research follows a blind peer review procedure. All contributions submitted to the "Article section" will be reviewed anonymously by two members of the editorial board or by other scholars asked by the editorial board or by the editor in chief.

The reviewers reply to the editorial office in terms of acceptance or rejection of the paper proposal, respectively suggest possible revisions.

Ordinary issues have a continuous review and publications process. In special issuses all articles are published together.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate Open Access to its content which means free access to all published content.

 

Journal History

Nordic Journal of Art & Research was created by Oslo and Akershus University College, now OsloMet - Oslo Metropolitan University, during fall of 2011 under the name InFormation - Nordic Journal of Art and Research.

 

Digital preservation in the PKP Preservation Network

The journal has signed up for the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) which uses the LOCKSS program for decentralized distributed digital preservation. This ensures continued access to the journal's content in the event of catastrophic failure or if the journal is no longer published and removed from the web, the content can still be made available again by PKP PN.
