Abstract

In radiography education, providing the students the means to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills is crucial in preparation for placements in imaging departments. Previous and ongoing research supports that blended learning holds an important place in the learning environment of higher education.

The study had a mixed method design and aimed to explore first year radiography students’ perceptions of learning outcomes in a blended learning seminar, with the purpose to investigate if the teaching method is suitable in combining theoretical and practical skills.

The findings indicate that the students perceived the teaching method as positive in regards of learning outcomes. Blended learning can increase practical comprehension, and skills in preparation for practical placements in imaging diagnostic departments, when combined with other teaching methods.
