Results from an Action Research project, conducted as development research trials at the basic course for Postgraduate Certificate Teaching in Professional Education for professional educators, showsexamples of and key principles of student active and professionally oriented education.
Challenges seen in professional education are low relevance and lack of coherence between the content in the educational program and the profession.
The research trials were carried out with focus on professionally oriented education and student activities inspired by Flipped Classroom to meet these challenges. The core principles are the analysis of vocational tasks and –performance as a starting point for the curriculum analysis and profession didactical planning of content, teaching and evaluation, linked to coherence and vocational qualifications.
Homework and student active learning through reflection over practice is also important. The results also show challenges linked to professionally oriented education and a need for development of profession didactical teacher competencies.
