Call for papers: Nordic Languages as Second Languages - Comparative Perspectives on Second Language Teaching and Learning in the Nordic Countries

Linguistic and cultural diversity has increased significantly in the Nordic countries, and consequently, the educational systems need to continually adapt to increasingly more diverse student populations. The Nordic countries share an educational ambition to build socially sustainable societies, and to achieve this goal, the inclusion of newcomers – and hence the successful teaching and learning of the Nordic languages as second languages – is a key component.

This special issue explores how recently introduced educational reforms are being implemented in different contexts and how they translate into classroom practices in different school subjects. By adopting a comparative perspective, we seek to unravel the nuanced and varied ways in which these reforms impact both teaching and learning across different subjects or grade levels, or within the same subject across time comparing different reforms in the same or different geographical locations.
